Concern as regards the deindustrialization process in Brazil and the advance of imports as a result of the reduction of exports have been the core themes of one of the main discussion panels at the 22nd Brazilian Steel Conference, which was held between June 1 and 3 at Transamérica ExpoCenter, in San Pablo.
For second consecutive year, Organización Techint (OT) participated together with others national and foreign industries and was represented at this event by executives of Techint Ingeniería y Construcción, from Tenaris and Ternium.
According to Lodovico Rocca, Vice President of Techint Ingeniería y Construcción in Brazil, the event enabled a higher proximity with the main clients of the company, and generated more comprehension on their problems, besides confirming trends in the interaction between mining and steel industry.
The event opening ceremony counted with the attendance of the Governor of San Pablo, Mr. Geraldo Alckmin, who highlighted the importance of steel industry for national development. As from the first day, the debates have been related to the market perspectives, and this theme was addressed by André Gerdau Johannpeter, President of the Board of Director of the Brazil Steel Institute "Instituto Acero Brasil" (IABr), entity in charge of the event.
